In memory of the old man, I continued his legacy and kept taking the vue to Academy Car Care. Been a repeat customer for about 8 years or so. In that time I've had good service but lately it really has taken a turn for the worst. I first noticed something was amiss by John Massey (The owners son). His attitude really makes you wonder if he cares about his dad's business at all. Once this behavior began I should have found another shop probably 3-4 years ago. If he treats repeat customers in such a callus way, It makes me wonder how he treats his staff. A few visits previous I noticed odd things like various bolts not being tightened down properly (requiring me to take the car back in). Once again, trying to do as my dad would have done, I had the car taken in for a new clutch. Everything seemed fine for the first 10,000 miles. Now the clutch feels about as bad as it was at 70,000 with the stock clutch. Took it in and was told clutch was normal. Very frustrating the disconnect between management and the mechanics. I have a feeling that there is internal conflict with the staff here and they will take it out on your car. My trust us broken, and I will find another shop to do business with. Shame.

Saturday 10 am rolled around and no call no show. I called at 10:15 to see if my directions were bad and Jeff told me that he sent a text (I never received any) and that they had been called to an emergency on I-25. He said that they would be over by 12. 12 rolled around and again they were a no show, no call. At 1:50 I sent a text, no response. I called at like 3:30-4 and the number had been disconnected (or I was blocked). I didn't ask for a miracle, didn't ask for anything but them to swing by to help diagnose a no start issue. However, common decency like a phone call to let someone know you are running late or can't make the appointment would be the right thing to do. One simple phone call and some honesty like "I over booked myself, or this repair is taking longer than expected" would have prevented a nasty review and someone having the impression that they were lied to. Obviously this is a great example of how to NOT run a business. Then out of the blue today (Sunday) I get a text that says "On the way" at 12:48. Well it's now 2:40 and no further info and again a no show. I can't give a 0 star rating or I would. I can't recommend them as you don't have any idea if they will show up and help you fix the issue. No I would not recommend them, and if you try them you might think twice about the quality of the repair/work. I read the previous reviews and made my decision to call based on them. Obviously my experience is no where near good.

Rick and his staff were speedy and thorough and reasonably priced. They seem very honest and fair. We sure don't enjoy having problems with our cars, but it sure is great to work with someone we can trust! Jon Smith
