I dropped off my 1985 Baja boat off and he said it should be completed... read more I dropped off my 1985 Baja boat off and he said it should be completed within a week... (THREE WEEKS LATER and many excuses later) My boat ran great the last time I used it, but it has been setting for three years without being used. I made a list of things that needed to be completed and thinking that this guy would be a very good mechanic, it shouldn't be a problem for him to give it a tune up and get it running.. MY MISTAKE... I told him to drain the old gas and put new gas in it since it was three year old gas, told him to change the points, condenser and cap, put new terminals on the battery and adjust the timing because I turned the distributer when I tried to start it up myself... Well, he charged me almost $200 dollars to change the points, condenser and battery terminals... He told me the boat was junk.. He said the valves were bad on the engine or the engine jumped time. also the tilt & trim motor was bad. The tilt & trim would cost around $1000 and that he couldn't help me with the boat engine.. I paid the man his money... After a week I decided to take a look under the hood of my boat.. The gas smelled bad, so I pumped the old gas out and put new gas in, turned over the boat with the help from a friend turning the distributer, the boat fired up. we then set the timeing.. BAOT RAN PERFECT! Then for the tilt and trim, the wires were rotten. I disconnected the sensor wiring that was bad from the motor and the tilt and trim worked fine. I ordered a new set of sensors from West Marine ($100) but I haven't installed them yet, but I am now able to use my boat.. This guy is a CON!! How can he say he is a boat mechanic? I have no clue about boats and I fixed it myself... I guess I should have done my homework and tried to do it myself instead of paying this idiot to do nothing.. I do not recommend this place.. I Never complain, but if someone wants to lie to get more money, I will say my peace... VERY POOR SERVICE!! Joe Crouch
