I brought my car into Midas, S Main st Torrington CT on July 25th 2022... read more I brought my car into Midas, S Main st Torrington CT on July 25th 2022 to have a new differential ring and pinion installed. The car was promised to me for July 26, 2022. Midas kept delaying and putting of the performing of the job for a full 2 1/2 weeks. I had to purchase the tool for the mechanic to perform the job. When I pick up the car on Thursday August 11th 2022, I leave the parking lot with the car and almost immediately here and abnormal sounding whining or grinding in the rear end. I turn around grab another mechanic who is still there and hadn't gone home yet and took him for a test drive and let him listen to the noise. he assured me the noise is normal and is a break in noise that will go away after 100 or so miles. 150 miles later, the noise is still there and other people who are mechanics NOT with Midas tell me the differential should not make ANY noise at all if the job is properly performed. In short, I had to wait 2 1/2 weeks for a job that was promised to be a one or two day job. The job was performed poorly and there may be damage to my car. Mida grossly overcharged me a price of $850 for a job that is listed as a 5 hour job on the books.

I called up Gene's Tire located in Accord NY on a Friday morning and they set up with an appointment the next day as soon as they opened.They crew working gave me a very nice welcome and performed the wheel alignment within an half hour or less. They were very polite and also very honest which is hard to find from a mechanic shop these day, not to mention they were a little cheaper than the rest and did an outstanding job. I highly recommend anyone who is have issues with their vehicles in this local area to go to Gene's Tire for a perfect service! Thank you Gene, I will be back if I have any issue with my truck. I brought my car in for an inspection and failed for the drive be... read more I brought my car in for an inspection and failed for the drive belts. I saw them, they did have cracks so i said change them. When it was done I saw the bill. My car requires 3 belts. 2 belts were 65.99 EACH and 1 belt was 52.99. A grand total of 184.97 for drive belts! I looked around for the price of these drive belts online, the most expensive one i could find was 17.99 same brand. I then called Midas to find out who their supplier was to find out the actual cost of the belts, but they told me they are not sure about which one they get the belt from and just gave me the number to a supplier who i called and found out he doesn't sell those belts to them. I went back to see the manager to discuss the bill and prices. I realize he doesn't make the prices, but its the first person you have to bring these matters to when you have an issue. He is good at his job, first telling me that i agreed to the work and paid for it, then after pressing him for any more information on anything i can do, he said i could get an estimate from another place that shows the price of the belts for a price match. So i call another Midas, I figured stay with the same company so all policies/gurantees are comparable only parts prices would possibly be different, it was 45 mins north of where i live and got an estimate and brought it in, by this point he relays a message that he will meet with me outside. I imagine this is so the the other customers aren't effected by overhearing what i am going through. By the way i am a military service member in uniform, so i was in no way losing my bearing under the situation. I understand that this is a process and as with most complaints it will take a while before you get anywhere with it. The manager looked over my estimates and noted that the only difference was the price of the belts at about 100 dollars cheaper at the other Midas, which also offers lifetime warranties. He then gave me a fax number to send the estimates
