I called them telling them my alternator is going bad and needs replaced and then took my car into their shop and told them in person. They told me I still had to pay $160 dollars for the “test” on the issues that I already knew. Previous dated inspection by Peerless showed my belt needed replaced as well. Upon test completion it was in fact my alternator that needed replaced. Despite letting Peerless perform the work, I didn’t not receive my $160 back for the “test” they needed to run. The work itself to replace the alternator and belt was outrageously high ($940 including test cost). A new alternator costs approximately $100-$120 and a belt costs ~$30 for a Toyota Corolla. I will not be bringing my car back to Peerless for any maintenance work other than oil changes.

A week later we had to take it back because of a bad oil leak. It was the main rear seal. $20 part but $350 in labor because they had to drop the engine again. I asked why they wouldn't automatically replace a $20 seal in a 2002 engine while the engine was dropped and their response was well it's under warranty so you can file a claim with the person you bought the engine from to get reimbursed. So I did and guess what?? Claim denied because they said replacing the main rear seal when replacing an engine is considered routine maintenance and should've been checked and replaced at the time of the engine replacement.
