I brought my van in for service due to a misfire on coil #5. After ass... read more I brought my van in for service due to a misfire on coil #5. After assessing the situation, it became clear that the job could be completed simply by removing and replacing the coils. The estimated cost for the parts came out to around $500, and it took me approximately an hour to do it myself. However, when I approached American Auto, they insisted on removing the intake gasket, air cleaner filter, and serpentine belt, which would have driven the cost up to over $2,000 for just the coils. While I understand that removing those parts would have made the job easier, it also would have significantly increased the cost. I have been to American Auto in the past, before the change in ownership, and they were quite reasonable. However, it seems that with the new ownership, they have become excessively expensive and are charging for unnecessary work.

I paid for pleasure, I threw away my money that day... Terrible experience
