But today, today was completely different. I pulled in, and right away the employees were a little hostile with a van owner. I didn’t get the context, but was taken aback at how they were speaking to this gentleman….I originally thought, “Huh? Maybe the customer was being ridiculous. ??????? ” But then I pulled into the bay. A different guy started gathering my information - and I interrupted him stating, “I should be in the system.” - and did it with a smile, of course. ?? The guy responded “Well first off, we’re a new company, and have taken everything over. Prices and everything have gone up. If you don’t want to give us your information, I’m happy to let you go, so you can go somewhere else.” ???????????? Wtf????? I thought for a second, then asked “We’ll how much are the price differences. He spouted out all the new prices and I then said, “Well sir - I think I WILL take my business elsewhere.” The price was $20 more than I paid at my last visit. So yikes ?? but that wouldn’t have mattered if he had been polite in any manner. I still need an oil change. He started to walk away, but before I pulled out of the bay, I asked him back over to my window- and said “Just from a customer service standpoint - you might not want to tell your customers they go somewhere else. In case you’d like to learn something today.” He quickly rolled his eyes, walked back to the front of the car, and motioned me out as he yelled to the guy below “She doesn’t want service.” While pulling out, another vehicle (a work truck) was pulling in next to me - and the employees trashed him and his driving as he was pulling in. Overall - those men were all jerks. Within 10 min, I witnessed 3 different employees talking trash and acting like pure jerks straight to the customers and they created an environment I wish to be NO part of.

Recently, the management has changed and the focus is obviously on the up-sell. Last week I took my car in for an oil change and tire repair (nail in tire). Three hours later I received a call that the tire could not be repaired and I would need to purchase a new tire ($150+). After I explained that I purchased the tire there and had hazard coverage the manager Kyle replied "Oh I didn't notice." Well it's a good thing I KNEW what I had purchases. Once he checked the computer the cost of the tire dropped to $55. Kyle then informed me that I need a special engine treatment or the car's engine would be damaged during the upcoming cold weather. I explained to Kyle that my finances were limited and he stated that the cost would be $49.00. I asked for more information because I was afraid I was being taken advantage of and after Kyle's explanation I felt that it was a vital service. I said to Kyle "With the tire at $55 and the engine service at $49, my total cost will remain around $100 so I guess I better get the engine taken care of too." When I arrived to pick up the car, Al was very nice and explained that the Engine service was $99, but I explained that Kyle said it was $49. Al called Kyle as Kyle had conveniently left for the day. When Al finished his phone call he stated that Kyle said it was $99. Knowing it was not Al's fault I simply paid my bill which now was nearing $200! Upon arriving home BROKE and disheartened by the downturn in service and management at a place I use to rely on, I told the story to my son. My son (who typically drives this car) went out to the car and came back with a receipt from 3 months ago showing the car had a complete engine inspection and service from Mazda (including a computer report on the engine). I now know NOT to trust Kyle and my local Pep Boys! Sadly, a place I've used since it opened is now off the list of trusted places. Just another stereotypical, take advantage of people repair shop.

This website has 300+ others issues from all over. It is not ok to victimize consumers, get away with it, and have no consequence. Their penalty should be lack of business. After reading these, I seriously think it's a waste of MORE time and effort to think they will do me any different than they have these 300+ people. I will call the cc people back and tell them and send them copies and they can do what they want, but I really think they'll all have to 'ding' my credit or whatever ~ http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/pep_boys.htm Recently, I needed an O2 sensor replaced. Pep Boys on 9 Mile Rd. said that did just that and charged me $285. The short story is 3 visits later to Pep Boys, and another $285 the problem was not fixed. Took the car to a real mechanic and found out that they not replace the O2 sensor they charged me for. When I called the shop and spoke to the manager. He repeatedly apologized but told me he couldn't help me unless he could see the receipt, see the part the other mechanic took off the car, and INSPECTED the car. LMAO He has a copy of the computer generated receipt and I offered to give him the invoice #. He says he could not credit the card unless I was in front of him. LMAO I wasn't in front of them when they ran that same number on the same card to charge the amount due for services NOT rendered. I was considering writing corporate, but after reading all of these complaints. I think I'll dispute the charge with the credit card company and if they choose to side with thieves and frauds no body gets any more money out of me. They can work it out among themselves. It's been a month of back and forth to a mechanic, forking out money, and stress. I wish I had seen all this before I took the recommendation to go there. Notice on the receipt it says old parts returned? They write no.... I have uploaded a picture of the part that PB say they replaced, but the mechanic who REALLY fixed the car gave me to show me the rust. He also showed me pics of where it was located on back part of the engine and how it was rusted. This meant that is was factory not newly installed. It if wasn't so financially crushing, it would be funny ~ got money to throw away?! enjoy fraud?! Well Pep Boys is the place for you.... go sit in a waiting room for FOUR hours while they do nothing and charge you! Evidently I paid about $90/hr to sit in their shop. I sure hope others do better research than I did. I trusted a friend's recommendation. NEVER AGAIN! I will tell every one I know to stay away from Pep Boys. They are thieves and frauds and liars. I say this because after lying and stealing the $285 for services NOT rendered, would you believe they wanted to "FIX" my brakes??! I would hope some one would contact me from corporate, but I suspect they've gotten all they can from me, so they no longer have a need to communicate.
