Got a call every hour or so for something that would cost more money. Then got THE call. Blown head gasket. Estimate went from $500 up to $2000. I had no signs of a blown head gasket. Compression test was fine, never overheated, ever (not even once), no loss of power, no white smoke. Decided to have them just put it back together so I could get a second opinion. At first they told me it was definitely blown. When I picked it up, the owner said it "possibly had a leak". So, either my car magically regenerated its own head gasket or someone lied to me. Also, I can't prove it, but I'm 90% sure they put oil in my radiator to make me think it was a blown head gasket.
