I had taken my front bumper off the work on my headlights and when i put everything back on the headlights didn’t work and there was a check engine light on. I explained over the phone and when I got to the shop what had happened and they said they would take a look.. well about 4 hours later they called me back and when I got to the shop they said they had no clue what was wrong and to take it to ford.. they gave me codes but the codes were the exact same codes my code reader had already showed me.. the lights still didn’t work and the check engine light was still on.. so I took it to Elk Grove ford and they informed me after lookin at the car that the headlights literally were just plugged into the wrong place and that the check engine light was due to a fuel pump and a broken turbo hose.. so I have zero clue what if anything this place did considering they couldn’t even plug the headlights into the right places when they looked at the car.. the diegnostic fee was $170 which isn’t bad but considering they didn’t figure out a single thing.. they basically took $170

They would only communicate through the app where they had pictures and stuff. I called to ask questions and I couldn’t get them on the phone. Well I SPECIFICALLY asked if fixing the heads would make my heater work. And he reassured me in worrying it would. When I picked up the car and paid for it the coolant was all over the ground. I should have know. There were screws still on my floor board and guess what?? Heater didn’t work!! When you drive the car it would blow Luke warm. He claims he changed the heater core and all their stuff to fix it but he didn’t. My car was losing oil and when I took it to a new shop they told me that is a sign the heads were not done correctly to take it back to garage 47 I did and Steve told me that I need a new engine and there is nothing he can do for me. I filed a complaint with the better business and they agreed to refund me $500 which I never received. I brought my car back over and over but never burning oil until the last attempt for him to resolve it. He was horrible and claimed he’s the best shop but he’s not. I have the written proof I told said I authorized the repairs only IF my heater was repaired and he never did the work he promised.

Once he took possession of it and took the head off, the game was over. When removing your car and going somewhere else is no longer an option, you have the tiger by the tail. The "cost" kept increasing up to $1800 that I still (involuntarily) agreed to. ($1500 had been my target cost) The last day he told me the final price was $3100, (+ the $700 for the used, untested motor...which was BAD) without my having approved of THAT absurd figure. Many "chores" were charged as separate procedures to jack up the price. Charging hours of labor for motor mounts when the engine is being replaced anyway is one example. The engine had no oil pressure and the "engine" light was on. Smog was due in six weeks and a component was missing. I had to sell the car for junk ($49 at Pick N Pull) and I had to go to court. I won in court but he won't pay. The sheriff went for a "till tap" but couldn't collect any money because he does cash transactions from his pocket. His profile with the BBB and others was not consistent with his past life, as far as years in auto repair, etc. He knows every trick in the book. "If you give this man your ride, sweet memories will die." (slight variation of the Jim Morisson song) I have all the paperwork to prove these comments, from the greed-driven invoice from 1st Choice to the $49 receipt from Pick N Pull. In court he acts confused and thinks I should have brought it BACK to him! I'm actually a little curious to see how high his lack of shame would allow him to raise the price. Of course I regret paying the total to remove my car. I should have let him keep it, but I thought the legal route was the way to go. Well...not so much with this slick operator.
